A shame

This used to be one of the nicest second hand bookstores in Amsterdam. A paradise of two stores packed with books where you could browse around and always find something special. It has gone as all good things disappear. Can't wait until spring for the Topshop store, have nothing to wear!

  1. With large posters like that they are make sure they get you attention. In your case it worked. :-)

  3. Topshop opened in Perth last year Marianne, thankfully it didn't replace a bookshop :) Have fun checking out the fashions , I had a big success yesterday!

  4. There are enough "top shops" about. I'd rather have a bookstore!

  5. Marianne, I would assume you will really miss the bookstore, such fun. Reminds me of the movie with Tom Hanks. So many clothing stores that are so packed with clothes.

  6. A shame indeed. I have a used paperback bookstore down the road from me, just a couple of miles. It is a goldmine of books. You can return them when done and receive credit towards future "rentals" or keep them if you so desire. I never see young people in there, just old folks like myself. I guess when we are gone, the store will have to close. Younger generations read only from their computers and Kindles?

  8. I'd far rather have a bookshop. There's no shortage of clothing stores.

  9. It's all about money ,globalization and trade deals. Individual book stores can not compete with these bullies.

  10. What a shame. You can find a Top Shop almost anywhere, but a second hand book store is a treasure chest.

  15. I love book stores and I love my Kindle. I get excited every time we go to the city because the must go to place is the Indigo Book Store. I can spend a couple of hours in there. I guess you now know I love to read :)

  18. Marianne, this is the time when reading the book is an effort. It is easier to view the video. Better is something new to wear.
