At the Central railway station in Almere Stad (City). The station dates from 1987 and is designed by Peter Kilsdonk. It was built as main station for the new forensic city Almere along the Flevo railway line.
The design is rather spectacular but for a city built in an always windy polder it is a cold place to wait for a train. At the right are many open spaces where the winds blows into your face.

Looks like the ceilng would hold up under stress.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI. Like the bright colors......Altough I really don't like wind, especially when it is cold.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like the colours. They add spice to the station.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI too like the colours and I also like the butterfly's on the side. I think there is lots of support in this structure and kinda neat looking too.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDe kleuren maken het wel levendig.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenit really is neat! that first shot is wonderfully done! i can feel the brisk wind, though. :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMarianne, I love the trains, so thanks for your pictures today.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOften architects don't take into consideration the weather Marianne but it certainly looks good.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe mural kind of breaks up all those harsh lines of the building. A nice touch.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes, the people look very cold. sometimes too much emphasis is put on the structure and other elements like weather are ignored.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI can well imagine that it is very cold in the winter, but the girder structure is very attractive.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice photos, the first is so cool.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI believe this place is vey cold in windy days.
A very modern design.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love that second shot!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOne often wonders if it really needed to be open... It would no doubt make quite a difference in feeling more comfortable while standing still and waiting. Not being in motion feels a lot colder!
Hugs,
Mariette
It has an amazing pattern structure. Its a pity it isn't practical for the weather.
