The Hague

The Hague along the Hofvijver (the Court pond). There is a graveled footpath along the water which reminds me a bit of Paris.

On the bridge a special monument from 1923 to remember the construction of the road behind me and the celebration of the 25 year reign of Queen Wilhelmina in the same year. A strange combination for a monument I think. But I like the way this is made in "Amsterdam School" style with the bricks and concrete. Notice the stork, the symbol in the coat of arms of the Hague, I had mentioned a few days ago.

  2. Memories. I believe this is near The Binnenhof? I use to ride the bus from my village and get off near there at a square called De Plaats. Matter of fact I use to sit on those very benches.....Janey

  4. It's so nice to see people strolling along the open water in the sunshine. No one is outside here. It's too cold. I love the stork.

  6. Memorials are made to make us stop and think about something. they don't necessarily have to be spectacular.
