Walking in Amsterdam I am always surprised to see something I hadn't seen before. This apartment building is so nice situated at the corner like the bow of a ship. I had a little "deja-vu" feeling, it reminded me of another building I had seen.
I looked on the internet and found the flatiron building in NewYork.
Ok, you can't compare it with the Amsterdam building but I hope you understand what I mean.
Anyway New York was named "New Amsterdam" in 1626 by the colonists of the Dutch Republic, so there is a relation between the two cities.
I do love the style of your building and how the stones on the street add to everything. Much prettier than pavement/cement.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove the cobblestones and am fascinated by the architecture of the buildings on the corners. I wonder what the room in the corner looks like, Marianne?

BeantwoordenVerwijderenLeuk om zulke gebouwen te bekijken. Mooi voorbeeld heb je erbij gezocht.
Yes it does look like the bow of a ship. It would be nice to have a residence right at the end where you could look out your windows in both directions.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou have a good eye!

I'd like very much to see the Inside of the appartments in such "corners" of the buildings ..
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI would like that apt. You could see in more than new direction! We have a similar building in Ft. Worth. I will have to take a picture of it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLijkt me bijzonder om in zo'n halfronde hoek je kamer te hebben.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSo I'm not sure if the flat iron building refers to the shape or the exterior finish. I'm going to have to look that up. Or you could get SCCollections to do a post on flatiron buildings?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI can see clearly resemblance in Amsterdam and New York buldings.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYour building is very lovely in a nice corner.
Whan I saw your first photo I immediately thought of the flatiron building. You have to admit though that the building in Amsterdam has much more charm.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI also immediately thought of the flatiron building.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenProbably makes for some pretty interesting corner rooms.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWalking is so good for one's body and for our photography. Isn't it grand when you see something that brings up a memory. I too love flatiron buildings
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLovely comparisons in more than one way!
Yes, the Dutch were the very first that colonized the United States of America.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Amazing design Marianne, I've always loved these corner buildings too.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenI would like to see how they utilize that narrowest space inside. Great photos.
