Library

This is something you see often in the streets nowadays. People put a little library in their front garden. Mostly the books are free to take away, or they ask you to interchange one of your own. Here you can even take a seat to read. It is a nice idea but as an old librarian I hope people will visit the "real" Public library as well.

  1. They are also catching on here. I haven't seen any in my neighbourhood but I am still looking.

  2. A great idea. Here you cannot see any like this or I haven't seen.
My heart does not allow me to throw old books in the trash, but it is difficult to get rid of them. One way is to export it to second-hand store. Sometimes, I put them in the junk room of our house, a few at a time, and some neighbor might take them.

  6. As an "old librarian" you would be quick to spot books.

  7. That is a fun idea. I've seen it in America too but not here. Maybe just not in my suburb. Our public libraries are great places to visit. There is so much to do there besides borrow books . We hold our U3A meetings in our Logan City libraries too.

  9. A lovely idea, but as you say I also hope people support their local libraries.
Here in Perth I've seen a similar concept with bookshelves with books at bus stops.

  11. I loved this post for its content and color. I just finished a book from one of these walkers’ libraries...Colleen Cobles “The Inn at Ocean’s Edge”. It looked to have never been read, I loved it. A wonderful little mystery which was such a great read. Now, today before our hike up the mountain, we are headed to return it and add another. Never think a book is not a good one. We all define “good” differently. Great shot.
