A portrait

It looks like a drawing but it is in fact a sculpture, a "free-standing drawing". Jeroen Henneman "drew" Ed van Thijn's face using thick black lines, not on paper but in the air. Amsterdam city council regulary commissions artist to produce portraits of its mayors and aldermen. In 1998 Henneman was asked to produce a likeness of Ed van Thijn, who was mayor of Amsterdam from 1983 to 1994.

  7. How in the world did he do it? This is amazing. I am trying to figure out the process, but I do not have a clue. It really looks like it is drawn on the wall or on a piece of paper and then cut out and mounted. I am totally befuddled but I would love to see the piece up close and personal. genie
