The (commercial) Christmas season starts every year earlier. Can't remember I have seen the street decorations in Amsterdam in October before. Besides, we are still enjoying a kind of Indian summer, no Christmas feelings at all.
That is early! The first Christmas tree I saw here was actually at Ikea in September and I thought that was a bit premature. I've already seen a lot of signs for Christmas presents in shops, but no outdoor decorations yet.
I saw quite a lot of Christmas decorations going up in New York and I've seen a few here too. I bet there are even more now. They just keep getting earlier and earlier.

It is the same here - I was so surprised last time I visited the shops as they were full of gifts, decorations, and Christmas food.
