I have mixed feelings about the exhibitions in old churches. I like the art but not the location. To keep the buildings in repair many old churches have to make money and let the building to others. But I like to see it as it is without things in it attracting my attention.
On the other hand when people come for the exhibitions they also see the beauty of the building.(I hope)
The exterior of this magnificent church is as beautiful as the inside... I agree with you that it is a challenge to preserve this exquisitely built place of worship... Finding the resources to do so often leave few options... All in all, this is not too bad as choices are made.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenotherwise, i am not that much against using a church but for what it was built for. for example, the church in Maastricht that they turned into a bookstore is really pretty that way, and i think many more people in this way see a church from the inside than otherwise would have happened...
