The Wilhelmina square in Leeuwarden with the Court of Justice.
And the "modern"fountain. This kind of waterwork can be seen at every renovated square nowadays in the Netherlands. It goes on and off and especially children like to run through the water.
It reminds me of a school excursion when I was about 8 years old. We visited a park called "Little Tricksters" where you had to walk over a little square where you were fooled to watch some sculptures made of shells and suddenly without warning fountains under your feet started to spray. Everybody was shouting and running away which was great fun.
So I call these fountains "trick fountains".
I love your "trick Fountains" story. I see the children playing in one here, when I walk by the river and the squeals of delight are heartwarming, as they run through the water when it starts to spray. Lovely photos Marianne. Have a blessed Sunday.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt seems as though people of every age are intrigued by fountains and the movement of the water. Love your childhood memory!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI made the mistake of walking through one of these wondering what the little holes were for. I soon found out. I had my Nikon in my hands at the time too. Haven't made that mistake since.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWe have those fountains here too - they are lovely to watch, and, as you mention, delight young children, especially when it is hot weather.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI have enjoyed your photos so much that I want to visit your country.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI wonder if there is a certain date they shut these off for the winter?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou're right . Fountains are much more common today. I like them.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLeeuwarden heeft veel mooi gebouwen. Mooi gezien vanuit het museum.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThey are everywhere here in Minnesota, too, but only in summer of course. They are fun and kids love the, but I prefer the art in the more traditional ones.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe fountains here will soon be shut off for the winter, I think. I do like this one.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove your story about the school trip even more! Impressive Courthouse and great photos showing it at its best!
Happy new week and hugs,
Mariette
In love to watch kids enjoy these fountains.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe fountain is lovely.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhen I was a little boy, I read a comic book which had a fountain like that.
Whoda thunk?
Peace :)
Love the fountain I have actually never been in Leeuwarden
