Monday Mural
In 2017 I saw this mural in Amsterdam. It is a Punk Kid, the text on his jacket looks like Johnny Romer, but it is crumpled in the folds of the jacket and must be read as Johnny Rotten of the British Rockband The Sex Pistols who was active from 1975-1978.

Monday Mural
One from the archives of 2013 in a bit raw neighbourhood in Amsterdam. It is a shame the pretty painting has been damaged by the graffity. Linking to "Monday Mural"

Fata morgana (Mirage)
Three dromedaries walk leisurely on the railway bridge over the Ring canal. They move like three dark silouettes along the horizon to the east. The dromedaries walk in the desolate stone desert of the urban landscape. Are they a mirage or are they real?
This artpiece "Fata Morgana" in Amsterdam is made by Iris Le Rutte.

Rolling Kitchens
A few pictures of the anual food festival in the Westerparc in Amsterdam.
All kind of exotic food is fresh made and you can eat it right away.
Some make a real piece of art of their rolling kitchen, here a Delft Blue one.
And there is music.
But it was so hot and no shadows anywhere, so we left without eating any hot food before we were caught in the heat.

Monday Mural
Another mural at an apartment building in Amsterdam I mentioned last Monday. It is hard to see that it is all painted, it looks so real.
Here a detail of the screws. Linking to "Monday Mural"

Monday Mural
To brighten up an old renovated neighbourhood in Amsterdam an artists collective was commissioned to make 10 huge murals on the apartment buildings at the Platanenroad. This is one of Sam Bates (SmugOne). Linking to "Monday Murals"

Meerkat
I was in the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam and saw my friend the meerkat again. Unfortunately he wouldn't raise on his hind legs.
While his mates were messing around.
Someone must be alert, you never know what danger comes out of the sky.

Auschwitz monument
The National Holocaust Remembrance is the commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust organized by the Dutch Auschwitz Committee on the last Sunday in January. The ceremony coincides with the commemoration of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentrationcamp on January 27 1945.
The Dutch artist Jan Wolkers made in 1977 this Mirror Monument in the Wertheim Park in Amsterdam with the text "Never again Auschwitz ". With the broken mirrors the artist expresses the idea that after Auschwitz the sky will never be undamaged again.
Between 15 July 1942 and 3 September 1944 more than 107.000 Jews were deported from the Netherlands. Only 5200 survived the Nazi concentration camps and returned.
