Red alert

From a distance I noticed something red in Amsterdam.

They came closer.

But finally they headed cross to an underpass.

School trip

A large group of foreign, english speaking school children was finding their way through Amsterdam.

Beware of the traffic. They looked rather young for a schooltrip abroad, but maybe I am to old to estimate the correct age. I was sixteen when I had an exchange program with school to Liverpool and stayed at an english speaking family with a girl of my age for a week. That same girl stayed at my house in Amsterdam during Easter.

Must be exciting for them to explore an other country. You'll learn more than from books.

Flaming trees

Close to our supermarket I saw daily these three trees looking like fires, but I never had a camera with me. Last Sunday I finally made some photos.

They are so incredible red this year,  I can't remember they ever had this colour. I think it has to do with the warm summer we had and the Indian summer last september.

Doors

Like it was made for "Ruby Tuesday" this door in the former Wilhelmina Hospital  in Amsterdam.

Every entrance had another modern one decorated with the old original sculptures.

Challenge

A few weeks ago we had a "Challenge" weekend in Almere with three days of all kind of running races. I didn't follow the rates,  I am not that sporty minded,  but had a look at the whole circus around the event.

There were lots of people around.

And at the finish steam was blowing when the runners arrived.

Explosion of Red

Walking in Amsterdam I encountered this dazzling music band which was performing at the Rembrandt square.

I had no idea what this was all about. I looked it up at home on internet and found out this is the "Doe Mar Wa" band from Bakel in the south of our country which mostly performes at carnival parties. They make their own costumes which must be a lot of work. I don't know why they were in Amsterdam, it is no carnival time yet, maybe they were having an outing together.
