Running people

At a photo exhibition in Naarden in 2017 I saw a serie of running people in the city streets to get to work.

Photofestival 2

The exciting part is always to go into  the fortress tunnels.

It is a bit spooky there, these photos were turning around in a carousel in the dark.

But here was more light

Photofestival

The nice part of the photo exhibition in Naarden is that many photo's are exhibited all  over the  town in the open air as here along the ramparts.

Against the Church.

And against the hedges.

Or in a garden of someone's house.

Both Different

Seen at the Photofestival in Naarden. Said was born deaf in Afghanistan and grew up feeling like an outcast in Dutch society.
Emma Wackers (1993),  a social engaged imagemaker created an interactive installation "Both Different" about Said, deaf dancer Machiel and wordblind Emma in which  they ask to be included in society.

Photo Festival Naarden (2)

The nice part of the Photo Festival in Naarden are the different locations to watch the photos.
This is the Big Church where at the side aisles photos are exhibited.

I always have to look down to the old gravestones in the floor.

Another nice location is the attic of the old townhall.

A look up to the roof.

Naarden is an old fortified town with ramparts where also photos are exhibited.

Inside the ramparts.

And the Yellow Barn where big photos with light were exhibited and where you can buy all kind of beautiful photobooks.

Photo Festival Naarden

To many things to see at the moment, we hopped from the Rolling Kitchens to the Photo Festival in Naarden last weekend.

 Portraits made by Koos Breukel.

Photofestival Naarden (3)

Through the pretty streets with cobblestones we walked to the next location.

At the ramparts of the Fortress Museum.

Between the Museum pieces, photocubes were placed, a bit difficult to watch them on a slope.

A combination of cannonry and photo's.

I climbed the fortress walls to have a better look at the ramparts. You can see the stone walls where the tunnels are behind where we walked.

A look at the city with the Big Church.

Back to the exhibition.

In another tunnel.

But there was a magic one that changed colours when walking through.

In the end we had an infra-red photo made by a professional photoinstitute. Everything in the pink!

Photofestival Naarden (2)

Then up to the yellow barn at the left.

Where photographer "Inge van Mill" had a presentation of her photobook "Tweederangs burgers" (Second-rate- citizens).

In the barn you could have a look in many photobooks.

Then we went underground into the tunnels of the ramparts of the fortress.

There was a look outside through the thick walls.

When we came out the tunnels there were also photo's placed against the ramparts.

But we passed many more tunnels as it is a huge fortress.

With interesting details and mysterious  doors.

Imagine they had no electric lights in those old days only torches!

Outside we took a break on a sunny terras to warm up from the cold tunnels. (Will be continued tomorrow).

Photofestival Naarden (1)

Every two years the fortress city of Naarden organizes an international photofestival with exhibitions all over the place in 9 different locations. The theme was this year  "Right Here, Right Now!"
This is outside the Grote Kerk (Big Church). I will show you some locations we visited.

First location was the Big Church.

I am always impressed by the huge interior.

And of course my personal photographer caught me with the running men.

Then to the attic of the townhall, climbing up many stairs...

But I had a great view over the city from above.

And a look down at a "Petit Restaurant" Had to remove a spiderweb aside first.
Tomorrow I will continue the tour.
