It is impossible to make a photo of these  Christmas shop windows  of a departmentstore without a reflection of the opposite  houses.

But the effect is magical as the quote says.

I like it when the streets look festive in this season of the year.

A huge Christmas tree at Dam square in front of the Palace. It has lights but in daytime they are not  so visible.

At the department store "the Beehive", the tree changes colours  from green to purple.

The festive lights for the December season are hanging in the shoppingstreets in Amsterdam.

It was not dark yet but the festive lights were shining already in Amsterdam.

In the posh P.C.Hooftstreet there were old painting masterpieces hanging as the "Milkmaid" of Vermeer.

Just like soap bubbles floating in the air.

The tree was almost blown away last Saturday.

The street decorations in the shopping area in Amsterdam are every year the same I see.

This photo I made last year.... No money for new ones as the shops are going through difficult times because of  the competition with the webstores.

The end of the day, the sky is getting darker but the festive lights become brighter now.

Frans Beekwilder is a big professional decoration firm in Amsterdam which always has great Christmas decorations on their facade. Can you imagine I was a bit disappointed when I saw this.

Only a pink.white tree and some balls...

With the bookstore the firm showed more inspiration.

Another Christmas day

As we have two Christmas days in the Netherlands a pretty picture of Dam square in the festive lights. With the carriage and horse you can have a ride through the busy traffic in Amsterdam.
