Oliebollen

 At the last day of the year we eat "oliebollen", (deep fried dougnut balls). Most people bake them themselves, or buy them in the street at a donut stall.

 Sprinkled with powdered sugar they are delicious! These are selfmade.

The traditional Dutch "Oliebollen" we bake and eat at New Year's Eve.

Dutch tradition

"Oliebollen" a traditional dutch treat on New Year's Eve. Literally ïn english called "oil spheres, a kind of  doughnut or dumpling. Mostly I baked them myself and that is a lot of work because you don't bake a few but bowls full of them because we eat them the whole day long.

This year hubby was so kind to order them at our bakery and we had coffee this morning with "oliebollen met poedersuiker" (doughnuts with icing sugar).
