Elburg
One from the archives of 2019 in the small town of Elburg.
Although a small town they have a huge Protestants Church dating from 1448. The building has survived several demaging attacks during the centuries but has been restored again each time.

Row Houses
These row houses in Elburg or Terraced houses is a form of medium density housing that originated in Europe in the 16th century, whereby a row of attached dwellings share side walls. Terrace housing can be found throughout the world now. The Place de Voges in Paris (1605-1612 is one of the early examples of this style.Sometimes assosiated with the working class.

Fishing
This boy was fishing in the harbour of Elburg.
He was succesful, I noticed several fishes in his bucket.
And he was not the only one, "As the twig is bent, the tree is inclined", is the proverb...

Pebbles
In Elburg many streets are decorated with pebbles. The tradition goes back to the Middle Ages when people made clear where to find a carpenter, a shoemaker or another handcraftsman.
A bent hammer.
A shoe.

Reflection
Some people do a lot of work to make their entrance attractive. On top is a window which reflects the house on the opposite of the street with roof tiles.

High in the air
On top of a house in Elburg this storks couple had made their nest.
Always a miracle they can balance so high up with young ones.

Elburg (2)
The former St. Agnes Convent founded by the Sisters of the Common Life. The construction of the monastery started in the first half of the 15th century. After the Reformation of 1580 the building has had numerous destinations but now houses the Museum Elburg.
The St. Nicolas Church behind the city walls.
Another pretty street, the houses at the end were built against the citywalls and are very small.
Here you could have a look inside.

Elburg
The Vischpoort (Fishgate) is the entrance to the old hanseatic city of Elburg.
The gate dates from 1592.
The city is famous because of its medieval fortress walls.
It has very nice straight streets with special pebbles pavements.
Some of them are made of white cobblers with inlaid figures of black cuttings.
