The "Stedelijk Museum" (Museum of modern art) in Amsterdam has finally opened after 8 years of closing! The usual problems like renovating, fighting, moneyproblems took them that time to come to a result. In a previous post I wrote about the new addition to the museum here , which is called by Amsterdam people "the bathtub", or "sink".
So yesterday we decided to have a look under the sink to enter the new museum.
To bad, we were not the only ones, we had to wait outside until the crowds inside had spread into the museum.
Finally we made it inside, there is huge escalator like in a underground station, to come from the bathtub to the old museum.
In the first photo you see a little window in the white tub, that is where I made this photo of the black box in front of the museum. This is an elevator for goods, like artpieces I suppose. Nice to look at.
When I looked the other way I had at least a nice view over the Museum square.
Tomorrow I'll show you some of the art inside which was very nice.
I would love to see it!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMooie foto's! Grappig die foto's door de kleine ramen!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenJa, ik ben ook erg benieuwd en ga zodra mijn griep over is, snif, snif!
That is the most unusual design for a building. Bath tub indeed. Where's the drain?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGosh I wondered what it was going to be at first Marianne, it really is unusual but actually quite perfect for a Gallery of Modern Art.
