Waltrop, Germany

Wednesday we went for a one daytrip to Waltrop, a place in Germany. In an old mining complex with several buildings is a department store Manufactum we wanted to have a look at.

These are the buildings which looked rather pretty from the outside.

The inside of the department store with all kind of products as garden materials, furniture, cooking and some awfull clothes,(not my taste). It was all very expensive so I only bought an instrument to remove a stone from a cherry, very helpful don't you think?

I didn't buy the copper bath.

We had lunch in the former payroom, where the miners received their wages I suppose.

Then we climbed the watch-tower.

And had a look at the surroundings which looked quite different from our country, we don't have those hills.

On our way home we got stuck in a giant traffic jam because of an accident with a lorry that blocked both sides of the road. It was 5 o'clock and we heard on the radio it would last until 8 in the evening! We desperately wanted to leave all the traffic around us. Thank goodness hubby managed to find a way out and we drove to the first place we came by called Doesburg. Doesn't  this look pretty to have a very tasty diner at a terrace on a warm summer evening with a view at a historic building!

  3. Looks like a fun time except for the traffic jam. I wouldn't want that copper tub - use it once and polish it forever? No thanks.

  6. Soms is het gewoon leuk om ergens naar toe te gaan en te hopen op wat leuks dat je nog niet had.

  7. Beautiful old buildings and the good part is they've been kept. The prices might be ridiculous but you can choose not to buy.

  15. Dat lijkt me leuk om eens te bezoeken. Prachtig gebouw en mooi dat het zo in gebruik is genomen. Ik kende het niet, maar Doesburg wel.
