A mural by Karel Appel (1921-2006) in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. He was a Dutch painter, sculptor and poet and one of the founders of the avant-garde movement Cobra in 1948. This mural dates from 1956 and was painted on the wall of the lunchroom of the museum. After the renovation of the museum the lunchroom has moved but his painting is still there.
Linking this to Monday Mural.
So I wonder what you do with a wall with a painting like this when the building needs renovation or replacement?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHappy that they saved it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI wonder if they will be able to preserve the painting, while renovations are being done. It is really colourful and most interesting.
