Another exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum was about Fashion and Jewelry designs by "Gijs Bakker (1942)" and "Emmy van Leersum (1930-1984)". In the late sixties they, both trained jewelry designers, created a furor with their avant-garde jewelry and clothing that fused fashion, design and art.
The most famous item was this Stovepipe Neclace with matching bracelet, now an icon of Dutch design.
Here a range of their bracelets. I loved those very much at that time and I still do. I wore simular jewelry at that time by another designer.
Here some examples of their legendary fashion show of 1967 in which they mixed their designs with fashion.

Fashion design run-a-muck! ;-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe bracelets might be OK, but I won't be wearing those neck chains n braces me thinks. I am just thinking how uncomfortable those big clunky things would be - I'm just not the type of girl to wear a stovepipe necklace of this magnitude. he,he
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI can't say that I like the necklaces but the bracelet is okay.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThey seem very uncomfortable but very attention-getting. Can you imagine that metal collar with the sun shining on it? Ouch! But then I think high fashion is always uncomfortable to wear.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMay I ask a question here? Does anyone know of any interesting blogs written in French, with no English translation? I want to keep up my French and that seems a fun way, but all the ones I find are written in French and English. Thanks.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIk zou het zelf niet dragen, maar vind het wel mooi om te zien. Kunstzinnig.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe sixties were such a fantastic era for music and fashion, I think these two were probably to the Netherlands as Mary Quant was to the English oui!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI liked visiting this museum two years ago!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThose collections are very interesting, the 60ies were very creative!
All these examples make us take a second look and think about our own life.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI once read. If jewelry doesn't make a statement why bother. This necklace certainly does.
BeantwoordenVerwijdereninteressant en prachtig !
