Enjoying a drink on this terrace in Almere City a man with a lawn mower suddenly appeared against the sky.
It was a silly view but this shopping mall with the terrace has various levels with grass roofs.
Here an impression with the grass roofs, seen from the terrace.
Linking to Skywatch Friday
A novel idea and great fun to see. Is that a soccer net that I see on one roof?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNo it is a swing, to play soccer there would be a bit dangerous....
VerwijderenGrass roofs are rare in Canada.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWe have a school nearby that has a grass roof, although I can't ever remember someone mowing it. Somebody must.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's surely more beautiful to have a roof with grass than a concrete one. Better for the view, the environment , for everything!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI do believe I have never seen a grass roof in Canada - I have seen thatched roofs on some cottages from a long time ago, but this is indeed very different. I am wondering where all the water goes, once the lawn has soaked up as much as it needs - there must be drains underneath. What an interesting idea and much more attractive than the tin, concrete, shingle, wooden, roofs we usually see.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA super capture for sky watch it looks quite out of place and humorous. Our national House of Parliament has a grass roof
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHa ha grappige foto :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGrass roofs seem to be getting popular. I like how you show the grass roof and then the street scene on the right.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe parks in my county have "living roofs", which are a good idea ecologically. I like the way they look, too.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a great photo. You were just there at the right time to capture that scene.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHow clever. It looks to be sloped so that the water run off would go in that trench. Knowing the Dutch...they probably recycle the water! Nice job!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou always manage to capture the most unusual sights for us to admire here!
This looks indeed very interesting and amazing at once.
Hugs,
Mariette
Looks like a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a nice day! I've never seen a grass roof before.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLeuke foto's en mooi terras.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love it!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love it too Marianne, not what you'd expect to see when you look up from your coffee :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLeuk!
