A fence to hold on

The wooden banister of the stairs in the Felix Meritis building in Amsterdam of yesterday's post is a kind of fence to hold on.

  2. Am I right in supposing that little knobby thing in the middle of the banister is there to discourage people from trying to slide down the stairs? :-)

  3. Yep, that is definitely not a slidey bannister. Wouldn't want to hit that blob half way down. Nice n solid, beautiful wood.
