I saw this sculpture in the Hague in an exhibition called "Grandeur". Seventeen French artists exhibit their work in the open air. This one is named "Headbutt" and made by Adel Abdessemed (1971). The sculpture refers to the notorious headbutt French football player Zinedine Zidane gave against the chest of Italian Marco Materazzi during the World Cup Final in 2006. It is known as the "Zidane-headbutt".
I hope the tonight game of the Netherlands against Mexico will end in our victory without headbutts.
It is a huge sculpture as you watch the bench and person walking there.
Biting, head-butting, tripping, feigning injuries--yep, must be the World Cup! :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOUCH - head butting, I saw the fellow that bit someone else on the news - a first for soccer isn't it. This sculpture looks huge or is it the angle you took the photo. I love how neat and tidy your country is in every photo you show us. Have a wonderful day.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThere seems to be movement in this sculpture.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenJa dat zie ik nog zo voor me. Ik ben maar even weggegaan van het voetbal kijken.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWell, it seems the Dutch team had a good day.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like the sculpture; quite unusual.
'k was toch een beetje trots vandaag. Ze hebben het weer gered. Oranje boven!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenEn ik heb ook veel van je mooie fotos gezien. Bedankt.
Fijne maandag Marianne.
Nice sculpture I wonder why they made it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWat fantastisch dat Nederland naar de kwart finale gaat. Hup Holland Hup
You do find the most interesting objects of art to photograph!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWow that's quite a sculpture Marianne.. I heard earlier that it was a victory for Netherlands .. bravo well done!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice details, including the soccer shoe.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenPeace :)
Bijzonder dat daar een beeld van is, zou er nu ook één volgen van de beet van Luis Suárez? Ik kijk er vanop dat het al weer 8 jaar geleden is, wat vliegt de tijd.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenquite incredible to wonder how that thing holds itself up. It must weigh a couple tons!
