Ireland, day 5

We start the day with the horrible news of the crash of flight MH17 in Ukraine with the death of almost 300 people from wich 196 are dutch. We feel rather uncomfortable to enjoy such a nice tour with all that sadness in our country. But we had to go on so we made the best of it.
This is in the National Park Connemare with lakes and mountains the "Twelve Bens" from wich one is 750 metres high.

It was a cloudy day and we could see thick clouds rolling over the mountains which was an amazing view.

Some of the lakes had mussel farms.

We had a coffeestop in this hotel which had a watchtower, how cool is that.

SC and I ran up all the stairs to watch this rather misty view.

We arrive in Galway where we see this fisherman in the river in the middle of the town catching some salmons.

Galway is a lively university city where the sun breaks through.

There is a streetfestival going on and many artists are doing their tricks.

The Irish love to make music.

And we enjoyed the nice weather at the harbour.

With a real Irish red-haired close by.

  3. Enjoyed all these photos. I must say the first one looks as if you are on some tropical island in the Pacific.

  4. When I think of Ireland, the color green comes to mind. Now, I can see why! What a nice photo-tour and I agree with John that the first photo really does resemble an exotic island.

  8. Dearest Marianne,
Lovely photos again but a bit sad that you got so many clouds that did obstruct the view... Also your photo from the observation tower was a bit disappointing for having to climb several flights of stairs...
End good; all good - you got sunshine and even captured a red-head on camera!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  9. The downing of that plane upset folks around the world. Especially sad for the Dutch. Love these pics. One of my sisters was on a 3 month assign to Galway, but we didn't get to visit.

  11. The clouds make nice photos but glad the sun came out for you. I thought of you when I heard how many dutch had been killed in that awful disaster. There were quid a few Australians too. It is utterly disgusting.
