Odrupgaard is a state-owned art museum situated north from Copenhagen. The museum houses one of Northern Europe's most considerable collections of Danish and French art of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Ordrupgaard was founded 1916-1918 by former Hafnia managing director, titular Councillor of State Wilhelm Hansen ( 1868-1936) and his wife Henny Hansen.
It is a very nice museum where you walk through the rooms of the house and the walls are covered with the most beautiful paintings.
I also like the furnitures as this tiled stove at the left.
A little orangery to enjoy the light.
A study with the books along the walls.
The museum has recently expanded with a new building by architect Zaha Hadid with a little restaurant.
In the garden was an exhibition of several artworks but the weather was awfull with heavy rains so I had a speedy run to catch only this one.
That stove looks as if it was custom made just for that space.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a beautiful house ! I could live in it (with enough staff of course)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSuch a difference between the old museum and the new extension Marianne and yet it works!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat tiled stove looks interesting as is that new extension. I like Hadid's work. She designed the Olympic Aquatics Centre in London.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love those tiled stoves that you see in some European countries - sadly not here
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNever seen a tiled stove like that before. And, as you know, I live in the "tile country"! :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenEen prachtig huis, ook de orangerie ziet er gezellig ingericht uit.
BeantwoordenVerwijderena really nice touch to work the displays in with the house. You do a great job of showing these sites.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDat ziet er heel mooi uit. Dit museum ga ik onthouden.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like how the artwork is displayed. That tiled stove is so pretty and very unique!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful rooms. Tiled stove is very beautiful and nicely restored. It is a peculiar pattern. We have a cold country and a lot tiled stoves in old buildings, fortunately, all has not been removed. Corridor picture is lovely.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenEven if it rains, then the last snapshot is also nice.
Love the contrast between the house & restaurant. Have really enjoyed your look at architecture over your last few posts. The hotel looked quite stunning, it didn't look like there were any other tall buildings surrounding it and looks even more dramatic for it. My husband's a civil engineer & has always wanted to drive over the bridge. Perhaps we should plan a trip.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI could be quite happy living here - so beautiful and just take my time to enjoy all the house had to offer. Quite a difference between the house and the restaurant. I love the tiled stove.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA truly amazing and beautiful museum. Loved the study yet the glass doors seem to be a bit "unwelcoming."
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love that the museum is still furnished like a home. Beautiful place.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA beautiful setting for art. Having it furnished like a home is an interesting touch!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSorry for the rain you got! But the tiled stove really stands out in that lovely interior!
Hugs,
Mariette
