Scandinavia is well known for its designs and it was a joy to visit the "Designmuseum Danmark" in Copenhagen.
Some old children's beds from 1836 with a painting of Carl Larsson in the background.
The Nilfisk vacuum cleaners, I had once the little one on the right.
Recycled newspapers.
A nice way to keep your clothes from the floor.
There was also a very nice fashion section.
And ladies, what to think about this, a maternity corset from 1957! Glad I was pregnant in the seventies and those items had disappeared.
And the orange period of the seventies.
I love museums like this one - I have a Nilfisk too, like the one on the right but rounder. I have had it for at least 35 years and it just keeps on going and going without requiring any attention. I have told my grandchildren not to get rid of it - they are now considered an heirloom.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMine was rounder aswell indeed, but I gave it to my daughter and bought myself a less heavy one to get up the stairs.

VerwijderenThat 1940s Nimbus motorcycle is a real beauty. They are quite rare in the U.S. I have read about them, but never seen one. Interesting museum.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenInteresting museum - l like the newspaper chair and table, I think next to it is a cork chair - very much in fashion now. I remember the orange period, I had an orange kitchen when I got married!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAnd the 70's house I bought here in Australia, which had never been renovated, still had those awful looking orange and brown flowered carpets!! Couldn't wait to get rid of it...
Yes, how silly we were. I had all the walls painted brown! and orange seats :(...
VerwijderenStoelen van gerecyclede kranten, dat is wel bijzonder. Zouden ze niet afgeven?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like that motorcycle. Guess you didn't notice it as the vacuum cleaner got in your way. That's okay for I was thinking "what vacuum cleaner?" See, it goes both ways.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI try to serve everyone, the male and the female....
VerwijderenThis would be a fascinating place to visit. A chair from newspapers? Cool!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI would love to visit there.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA fun place to visit!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenQuite a place to visit! Do you suppose anyone would miss the motorbike if it happened to go out on the road for a spin?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreat designs all.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI have been enjoying all your photos and I love your cover shot!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat was quite interesting! A Nimbus motorcycle, Nilfisk vacuum cleaner I never had but got to see some.
Love the funny shelf (?) for keeping clothing off the floor. Looks really effective and probably will not wrinkle things as it is arched.
Oh my, that corset; like a harness and what a job for getting that adjusted day after day.
One would hate for having to see a doctor; takes quite some time for shedding it and getting back into one!
Yes, the orange period we all remember from the 60s and 70s. Funny how colors come and go in waves... That's what the piece for the clothes is; a kind of a wave in an oval!
Hugs,
Mariette
I think you got it right about the waves!
VerwijderenThe clothes rack really appeals to me. Wonderful collection of designs for all kinds of purposes.
