At the Rokin in Amsterdam big constructions are going on for building a new department store and a "Marks and Spencer" store. Mayby you remember "this post" from a year ago, about the demolition of a monstrous bank building. Anyway the municipality of Amsterdam has placed some billboards along the construction with the situation then, now and soon. I give you a closer look here below.
Then, here was the first commodity exchange in the world.
Now, we demolish and build the future.
Soon, it will all be much better...
You can't say Amsterdam municipality has no ambitions....
And this is the current situation.

Excelente trabalho e boas fotografias.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenUm abraço e boa semana.
There seems to be great constructions going on everywhere. Greetings!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAnother change to the skyline.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSounds like there will be some good shopping done there.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHow interesting. Especially the first photo, "Then". Some London building sites have similar photos and drawings and I love standing on the spot and imagining that scene in history all around me. The sailing ships with their sails unfurled must have been a pretty site on the canal.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenConstruction seems to be one way to improve so many struggling economies. I hope the new is as wonderful as promised.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI see it's not just Perth that's in the throes of much building Marianne! I do love the before image so much!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenChange is constant.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI hope you will be posting pictures of the finished product. Renovations can be so much fun.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBut will it be better than the old!?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIf ever we'll see any city ready.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice raport.
Op weg naar verbetering!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat'll take awhile, and looks chaotic!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe price of progress.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenProgress at work.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMy SIGNS, SIGNS
It's sad to see some of the old buildings even if there are nice signs in front of them.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThis seems to be happening everywhere now.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWell the signs let you know what's happening...
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMost creative signs referencing past, present, and future.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIndeed, Amsterdam is working hard on its own beautification!
Hugs,
Mariette
Keeping the public informed seems to be a high priority.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAmsterdam has indeed lovely building skylines. It seems to me around here, its become a "box" town and we are still in fight to preserve a beautiful olde post office bldg, which the town wants to tear down. Its really the only 128 yr old nice bldg left. Too Sad. However, I love the skyline of Amsterdam.
