In October I had showed you a post about this passage in Amsterdam in progress, "look here", and promised I would return when the work was finished. Well it has opened now to the public and I went for a look last week,
The ceiling is decorated by two artists with mosaic tiles and they called it "Amsterdam primordial soup" as you can see all kind of things you find in the Amsterdam canal waters.
From fishes to bicycles that are often thrown into the canals.
The floor is also decorated with tiles.
The sides have decorated glass windows with shops behind.
There is a tap where you can have some Amsterdam water for a drink, not from the canals I hope.

Wat een bijzondere passage! Het plafond is echt prachtig, en ook de watertap mag er zijn.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThey have made a great job of renewing the passageway
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOh my gosh it's so beautiful Marianne, so many wonderful details, j'adore!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLooks wonderful Marianne. What a pity so much junk goes into the canals though.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat water fountain is quite cute too.
...reasons to look around.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMagnificas estas decorações.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenUm abraço e boa semana.

This place is amazing!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThis hallway is quite amazing and so elegant, including tiles and the big fish at the end. Is there a crew of people that clean the canals on a regular basis?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThey have done a great job. Had to laugh at the drinking fountain....I have fond memories of shopping at the one in Den Haag.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNot often you see that amount of detail these days. Looks impressive.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a most wonderful decorations.
BeantwoordenVerwijderensuch an eloquent place
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSo is this some kind of tradition, b, to throw your bicycle into the canal? :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a lovely space!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe tap is very interesting. The place looks cool.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat's a very busy design. Maybe it's meant to put people in the mood for shopping.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's wonderful! I would want to stop and look in each spot for a long time.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like this. Amsterdam had plenty of primordial soup, since so much of it is landfill. What part of the city is this in?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIn the center the Damrak opposite of the department store the Bijenkorf.
VerwijderenWow that's so beautiful I have to visit amsterdam again when I come to Holland next time
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSuch a pretty passage!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenEverything about this passage is wonderful. The mural looks like an underwater scene. The fish fountain is a hoot. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
