To my surprise I saw something big flying in the backyard.
It was a heron landing on a rooftop.
Mostly you see them along the ditches, but with the cold and ice, they try the ponds in the backyards of the houses for a fish. Linking to "Saturday's Critters"
Zo zie je ze niet vaak!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHow wonderful you caught a photo of him! I think he looks cold and would like to warm up inside.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHello, it is odd to see the heron on the roof. Nice visitor and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, Enjoy your weekend!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLovely bird, poor birds must be suffering with so much cold!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHave a lovely weekend Marianne.
Not their regular perching place. I would be surprised too.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWell that was a nice surprise Marianne, for you and for us 😊
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWe regularly see a Heron eyeing out our garden pond - it is a wonder that we have any fish left.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful visitor:)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a beautiful bird! We see the great blue herons here in the summer.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOurs from here go to Florida for the winter!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThey're smart creatures and know where to fish.
BeantwoordenVerwijderen...and probably most back yard ponds have fish. Smart birds. They must be able to see into the water when flying over.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOh, great capture. I have seen them often, just not on a roof. Love these photos.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWauu, you was lucky you saw this big hero. Wonderful shots.
