A Happy New Year

The fireworks at twelve from my window last night.

Every habitant in the Netherlands can buy fireworks and light it at New Years Eve in the streets.

This crazy habit in the Netherlands couses each year deadly accidents or loosing  hands, fingers or sight, mostly with growing up boys. This year it is not different. The public opinion is finished with this but for some strange reason it can not be forbidden.
Anyway a happy, healthy and fireworks 2018 to you!

  1. A Happy New Year to you. I love fireworks but not in the street.

  2. Fireworks are about the only outdoor festivities we had here. Because of the freezing cold temperatures (-20°C) most cities cancelled other events leading up to them. Yes Donald, global warming is real.

  3. Fireworks are dangerous for untrained kids. I guess you have the liberty to hurt yourself. Your country is not the only one to allow this, We do have restrictions in some cities...so they go to the countryside...Happy New Year! Janey

  4. Not to mention the risk of starting fires. Not so many fired off here last night as on 4 July.

  6. We have fireworks here but they shoot them off in the streets. People get drunk, injured and I don't see the fun in that so we stay in and enjoy friends.
    Nice window shots.

  7. I like fireworks but I agree with you that the way the Dutch do it is dangerous. A happy NY to you and your husband.

  8. A fireworks display is popular world-wide and holds us in fascination despite that apparent chance of errors and tragedy. Great shots!

  9. Happy New Year! I don't know if the main fireworks here happened- it was cold enough to call off the concert they had in mind.
