I continue my post of yesterday about the immigration from Rotterdam to New York.
This is a poster advertisement for the Ship Company dating from 1898.
At the Landmovers square are several monuments placed as a remembrance of the shipping here.
But the most significant one is this "Lost Luggage Depot" made by "Jeff Walls".
A repository for found objects made out of cast iron makes the luggage look very real.
As if you can take them away.
I love that lost luggage sculpture. What a clever idea.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes, the lost luggage sculpture particularly stands out.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenImmigration was a big business at that time. Some of the families parted forever when they traveled to America.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe lost luggage sculpture is unique. Lots of people probably lost their luggage heading to America.
BeantwoordenVerwijderendie affiche had ook wel iets Marianne
