I visited the museum in Hoorn which shows how we lived in the past century. It was a kind of nostalgic travel through my own life as there were interiors of dutch houses, which all looked so familiar to me. This one is from the fourties how my grandparents lived.
The fifties when the first tv's arrived. This is what I remember of my own childhood. We didn't have the tv yet but the dinnertable with the white tablecloth and the tableware are quite the same.
This is at my parents home. I am in the middle with two friends and my father at my 16th birthday at the dinnertable as above.
In the sixties I had a simular chair and table made of rattan in my own girls room.
In the seventies we got married, we had a lot of orange and brown in our interior, but not so hysterical like this. But I must admit that the plates for the fondue set are still in my cupboard.
I am afraid I am ready for a museum....
This was in our first home in 1970. Hairy SC with tobacco pipe, my friend Ava and I had dinner with cheese fondue.
ha! what a trip. I think such a museum is a great idea!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou haven't changed a bit!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenVery Cool shots!
Thank you for sharing!
Oh my, the museum nailed it perfectly. So much of that is very much like it was here in the States. I like how the chair is so close to the TV. That's how you had to be to see the small screen, I remember. I'd say avocado green was the first choice here with the brown and yellow a close second. Maybe the green came after, can't recall. In the end though the first one is what to me appears so inviting, peaceful and comfortable except for maybe the constant tick tock of the clock which may drive me crazy. Ahh...probably would have got use to it. Great post and thanks for showing it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenthat is such a cool post.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenready for a cool museum! dont worry! :)
and so nice to see these photos of you and your husband...
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI knew that was you, the prettiest one, and you are still! Tell SC that he looks better now than he did then - hah! The fondue brings back memories and the color scheme of the 70s... orange, gold, avocado! Would you believe that we still had a washer and dryer (avocado) that my husband bought in 1971 and they were still working last year when we got rid of them?! They were still avocado green, too!

Dit is toch speciaal. Kan je je inbeelden dat dit nog te bezichtigen is 100 jaar later. Kan nog zeer interessant worden.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGroetjes,

Such a creative and fun post! The fondue pot brings back fun memories!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a fun post Bieb!! I have to visti that museum some time, I like all those interiors. And I had to laugh out loud when I read your comment "I am afraid I am ready for a museum" haha, that's funny. Why throw out a fondue set that works perfectly fine, and by the way all this orange/brown stuff is very hip these days :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA.wonderful look back in time ... I remember the days of orange ...and of course cheese fondue. I had a set of orange saucepans and loved them at the time.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWat leuke foto's uit de ouwe doos
BeantwoordenVerwijderenhahaha.... die TV's ;)
groetjes van ons allemaal
Kareltje =^.^= Betsie >^.^<
Thanks everyone for the nice personal comments. Many of you have a fun collective memory of the strange interiors and colours we lived in. When you see it in a museum you realize how bizar it must have looked.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice posting!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat orange periode is back.
Retro style!
Great post! I was born in the 50's and I remember so very well what houses look like. The 70's shot is fantastic! What a festival of colour! :-)
