Since 1869 the puppet theatre at Dam Square in Amsterdam has been a continual tradition. Many people of my age remember the performances in the fifties with the main characters "Jan Klaassen" and his wife "Katrijn". It is a kind of folk art with social criticism. For one reason or an other, the theatre had gone in 2001 and there were only "living statues" all over the place. Since May this year the theater has returned although there were not so many spectators yet.
How cute! I watched a small puppet theatre mounted on the back of a bicycle when I was in Chicago last year. So much fun!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love these old fashion ways of entertaining.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMaybe it was just a quiet day, I love the puppet theatres, so much more fun than the living statues which are a little creepy oui!
