Not far from where we live in Almere Haven this special pyramide home has built by Robert van Harten and two friends who were always fascinated by Egyptian culture. The largest pyramide is for housing with a kitchen, sanitation and a second floor. The smallest is an open space for meditation and workshops. The two are connected with a glass corridor. The pyramids are built of wood and covered with gold coloured panels. You can read more about the builders here
Almere has a tolerant policy about building your own home. Because we are a new town which only excists for 37 years experiments are encouraged by the local authority. This is rather unusual because there always have been many strict rules to built houses in the Netherlands.
I have seen some strange house designs in my lifetime. Now thanks to you I can add one more to the list. Are these houses really practical?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI think they are very interesting, almost works of art. But, I am not sure I would want them next door to me.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenVery cool!! I would love t see how the inside is arranged.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenthats weird. is someone actually living there?
BeantwoordenVerwijdereni would like to see it from the inside!
i somehow like it, but i dont like the windows, that could have been done more stylishly. oh, and the color i also dont really like, it looks like its not yet finished...
This is very interesting although I'd like to see them surrounded by trees or woodland.

Interesting although it might pose a problem hanging pictures on the walls.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAlmere wants an image of modern city so that's why they allow it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreetings,
Filip
This is great!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt sure looks strange but a fun idea. I have heard that there is some advantage for being inside a pyramid. I can't remember if it was a health reason or a psychological reason.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful blog!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenCaT,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThey are not permently going to live there. Each has kept his old house, but in the end somebody will live there I think. The shape of the windows have a meaning, it is explained in the link. I think it is to extreme in this landscape and to outstanding.
