Taphophile Tragics

Don't know what to think about this grave in Saint-Paul-de-Vence in the South of  France. Is it a bed, a stretcher?  Anyway it is different from the usual tombs.
This is my tribute to Taphophile Tragics

11 opmerkingen:

  1. oh, how odd?
that looks like it's made of metal, with stamped lettering? What is the part sticking up near the top? is that a holder for flowers?

  2. i am curious what is written on it? just the name of date of birth/death?
the color is not so nice. had it been transparent or purple, or transparent purple, i would have liked it better... ;)

  3. How unusual, itlook like a sun lounger.

    Beneath Thy Feet

  4. How strange. It looks as though it is inviting you to lie down next to the grave.

  5. yep, sun lounger was my first thought, too!

  6. Kitty,
    It is an iron cross.
No, I didn't come close to see the what was written on it. I was in a hurry and lost even the tourgroup
    while photographing!

  7. it looks almost temporary though I am sure it is not.

  8. oh oh.... never good to loose the tourgroup... ;)

  9. So very wierd. I can see the iron cross atop the head of the 'bed', but why the bed.

It looks a bit like a hospital bed used during wartime. It also looks a bit like a trampoline. But I am really at a loss to understand why anyone would use this as a memorial to a departed loved one. There must be a reason.
