Monday Mural

At the Open Monuments weekend you can watch some monuments which are usually closed for public. I visited in Amsterdam this old canal house from 1733 called "House of Brienen" The interieur is just as it was in the 18th century and people are still living here. This  big state-room has completely  decorated walls and ceilings. The light in the room was difficult to make photos and there were a lot of people around so the quality of the photos is a bit poor. This is a river landscape in the evening by Dirk Dalens III.

The ceiling has some mythological figures and made by Anthonie Elliger.

Above the mantel-piece are the "Vestal Virgins" also made by Anthonie Elliger.

In the four corners these painted vases represents the four seasons and phases of life.

Even the door was part of a painting.
