AAP is a European rescue centre and sancruary for primates and other excotic mammels. Based in Almere at the city farm Kemphaan, they house animals from all over Europe. They have been confiscated, abandoned or offered by private owners as a reseult of illegal trade, were being exhibited in illegal zoos or used in biomedical research or the entertainment industry.
At AAP they receive the professional care needed for their physical and mental recovery. Aftrer a careful proces of rehabilitation, long-term solutions are sought through outplacement in relatively natural environments, such as renowed zoos and animal parks.
In 2012 a total of 236 animals found shelter and 117 animals were outplaced. They have a beautiful place here to enjoy the fresh air and socialize with others which many of them never have experienced in their lives.

Love this. What kind hearts to care for these dis-placed animals.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat huge hearts and care are given from the caretakers to these dis-placed animals. Probably feels like heaven to them from wherever they came. Bravo!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenPeople who establish and operate these rescue centers for abused and abandoned animals are people of great sensitivity and compassion. I support them whenever I can. Thanks for the information.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a wonderful project. We need more rescue centers like this all per the world. It breaks my heart to learn of the pain and anguish these poor innocent animals suffer. This looks to be a beautiful pace for their rehabilitation.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI was surprised by the number of animals that had come through their care. Also the placement rate. AAP..I'd think with a little effort they could have named their rescue service with the resulting acronym APE.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenAAP is the dutch word for Monkey or APE? I forgot to mention that.
VerwijderenThis is certainly a very positive facility.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenStichting Aap doet enorm goed werk. Wij steunen ze al jaren.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGoed zo, wij ook.
VerwijderenIt is wonderful that there is a place like this! The people who run it must be very caring.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenQuite a joke that you didn't list your MONKEY too... I had not even thought about 'AAP' in combination with English.
Poor animals that get abandoned or transported illegally. Hope they will have a quiet and nice live at this foundation.
Hugs,
Mariette
People who run these places are fabulous.
