For tourists it is possible to have a carriage ride along the canals of Amsterdam. When there is not much traffic you can imagine you are in the seventeenth century.
They even have these in London. The horses are obviously very well trained to cope with all the traffic. Looks like it would be a more appealing ride in your city.
This would be quite a treat. The horses and the wagon look so elegant. We go for hay rides here, or just ride horses with "Western" saddles. Very nice photo :)
Yes, it would be fun to ride behind clopping horses in a carriage in your city, esp. if traffic is light. American cities sometimes have carriages, but the architecture usually is not quite as old. Charleston, SC has many carriage routes with interesting historic buildings and homes.
This seems to e a popular ride as you see the horse and carriage available in many cities. I think people today are very excited about riding with horses. It reminds me o the time when we only had horses for transportation.
Dearest Marianne, That is the most beautiful way of observing in a calm manner, not in haste. Provided you sit warmly, maybe covered with a lap throw? Hugs, Mariette
I have always wanted to do that. Many big cities in the U.S. have them, but I have been hearing about a protest to ban them from New York City Central Park. The protesters say it is inhumane to the horses to make them work.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenI think that is why so many of us love traveling Europe....it is a place where we can imagine a time gone by...I would enjoy a ride in this carriage.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe curved glass and elegant railing does it for me. The horses and carriage are the icing.
BeantwoordenVerwijderensuch gorgeous and stately horses. It's nice they can work side by side, for companionship.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenJa mooi, en dan op een autoloze dag ;)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful scene with the name of a beautiful flower.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenPeace :)
I've seen them in New York and Chicago, but never taken a ride. This one looks quite old fashioned and those horses are beautiful!
