This is the entrance to the Anton Pieck Museum in Hattem. Anton Pieck (1895-1987) was a Dutch painter, artist and graphic artist. His works are noted for their nostalgic or fairy tail-like character and are widely popular, appearing regularly on cards and calendars.
Here an example of one of his illustrated books.
The Museum is since 1984 in this old building together with two other dutch painters, father and son Voerman.
The two museums are connected by a beautiful courtyard.
A part of the museum was appointed as a regional museum with some old costumes from this region as these special folded hats.
There was a lot to see in this museum, in the basement were some excavations of ancient objects found in the region, look at the plate from 1692.
Now this is what I would love to do - visit this museum and walk by each and every case enjoying the relics from the past. WE had a lovely museum a short distance from our house when I was a small girl and every Sunday afternoon, my Mom would make a picnic lunch and we would all walk to the Museum. I loved this big ole building with all its historical information and can remember many, many hours spent there - perhaps this is where I began to develop my love of historical artifacts and information. Lovely Post.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenVery interesting. I especially like the dishes that have been excavated. I love poking around at old mining sites in Colorado in the summer. I find bits of dishes and glass. My favorite finds are a child's marble and the porcelain hand of a doll.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWonderful illustration!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love those old hats. They are so clever.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a lovely little museum! It looks so typically Dutch from the outside with the arched entrance and wooden door.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI could spend every day of my life at a museum! I like Pieck's art and I love the blue doors. Thanks for the peek inside.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThis is not only an interesting museum but a good reuse of older historic buildings.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenInteressant museum zo te zien! Mooi helder blauwe ingang.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,

Het binnenplaatsje vind ik al een heerlijke plek en er is prachtig werk te zien van alle drie.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat door is beautifully blue!
