In a place called Waterville a sculpture of Charlie Chaplin was placed on the boulevard.
Charlie spent many holidays in this Irish village. There were some renovations done and he stood a bit between rubbish.
He always stayed in this hotel close to the sea.
It was a very wet day in Waterville when we were there and the pebble beach didn't look so attractive.
But probably Charlie didn't mind and loved the weather here.

Pity about the weather but Charlie makes the place look fun.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice olde shot of Charlie, looks like he is way down on the beach - now, there was a guy who knew how to entertain a crowd. Very interesting Post :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI have never associated Charlier Chaplin with Ireland. What a nice surprise to learn about him there.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHow nice to see a familiar face!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHow interesting! Every place has those bad days, so I'm sure Charlie also enjoyed some beautiful days by the sea. He probably found some rest there, and maybe wasn't as well known.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHi there, old friend!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI imagine the place was like a sanctuary to him there.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHet hotel ziet er prachtig uit.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenNice story with photos of Charlie. Never heard he liked to be in Ireland.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like you adding in the vintage photo of Charlie.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes, I don't like pebble beaches either. They're hard to walk on but they look nice.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeing born in England I guess he did like probably the solitude of that pebble beach, still nearby...
Lovely photos despite the grayish and rainy day!
Hugs,
Mariette
The sea is always an relaxing place for Charlie too Nice that old photo of him
BeantwoordenVerwijderenlove Charlie!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFab sculpture of Charlie, not so appealing the pebble beach hey Marianne :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenwell, fitting name, waterville!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenwhat a moody look at the ocean!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI had no idea Chaplain liked Ireland so much. Hm!
I love the pebble beaches of Ireland. To me they are so melancholy. I still have a stone I picked up on a the beach I loved the most. I like your photos of the statues.
