A bronze work by Italian artist Mimmo Paladino (1948).
He makes drawings, sculptures and paintings in which figures, animals, objects and symbols appear connected to myths, stories and representations from different cultures.
A cast iron work by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa (1955) called Duna showes a head of a young girl with her eyes closed.
The head is vertically elongated. The girl is deep in thought with a meditative expression on her face. From some distance she reflects on the hustle and bustle of our modern existence and the world around her.
Something colourful, a pin-up model
and a ballerina by German artist Georg Herold (1947). The construction of the sculptures is rather unusual. They are made from wooden contaptions similar to stretcher frames with thin canvas streched across. Then the entire structure is painted and given a soft-coloured coating.
These are nice and interesting. I like sculpture that makes you look at it for a long time, contemplating.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreat sculptures, and thanks for the explanations on the face of the girl. Very different, Marianne.
