Most countries have their own snack you can buy in the street. In the Netherlands it is "het Patatje" or the "French fries" in english. You buy it in a paper cone with or without a sauce on top.
At the Unseen Photo Fair they sold biological fried "Patatjes".
Many couldn't resist a break with the snack and neither did we. I always like the traditional one "Patatje mayo" (with mayonnaise) yummy!
Uma pausa para as batatas fritas.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenTambém gosto.
Um abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.
Yummy!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGreat street photography. Nice way to eat what we call chips.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOh Marianne that's cruel :) I can almost smell the fries, it's too late now.. but tomorrow 😀
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI noticed in Amsterdam they had lots of little shops just selling "chips" and sauces. I wondered how any shop could survive just selling chips, but maybe everyone eats them.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenEuropeans must roll their eyes when us Americans drown our fries in ketchup.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThere are several sauces, from peanut to one named " war" . That last one is mayonnaise, chopped onions and ketchup! Brrrrrrr.
VerwijderenI've had them too- some Dutch stores here make them.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLovely street shots with french fries.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI think that we do not sell food here on the street to eat outside. We need to go to for instance to some hamburger.
The market is a different thing, they sell food outside.
I wonder how they serve them at McDonald's there. :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe american way, too small and not crispy.
VerwijderenWe used to have separate french fry stands but not anymore. French fries come with hamburgers and many other meals.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI recall having similar in Brussels - it was my first time eating french fries with mayonnaise and I was surprised at how well they went together.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like a bit of cider vinegar & some salt! Haven't tried mayo.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI'm a tomato ketchup and fries kind of person.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFunny but while reading your post, the taste of this typical patatje with mayo, came into my mouth and that after 32 years!
Great post about something very Dutch!
Hugs,
Mariette
When we moved back to the states I had to ask for a pkg of mayo for my daughter. She was not yet familiar with ketchup.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWonderful candid photos. French fries are popular all over the world!!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenoh my gosh.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI will have to stay away from those! Eek.
