I saw this chair at an exhibition in Amsterdam, designed by Friso Kramer (1922) a dutch industrial designer. He has designed high quality, simple products, mostly for offices use. His method is to design away everything superfluous. That is precisely what he did when he shaped this chair from the trunk of a fallen tree in his garden.

Clever, but I am thinking it is very heavy!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDat moet een grote oude boom zijn geweest.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a chair !!!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat's an awesome piece of art. I like wood when the use the grain in their creation.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove that finish.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenVery nicely done but I am curious as to what that is in the background.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou won't believe it, a furniture built from existing parts that may be used in ways that just suddely occur; a cabinet is a desk with room inside :)
Verwijderenwonderful.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Marianne,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is looking beautiful! He had a lot of vision one must admit, even though such a chair will be very heavy to move about.
The other piece of furniture looks very unusual.
Hugs,
Mariette
I like that- I can imagine it's heavy!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenA cabinet with a room inside is MOST unusual as is the chair.
